What DON'T I have to talk about?!

Work and grad school has begun, and it's been a really exciting week! First, I know several of you have wanted picutres of my *furnished* apartment, so here we go (even though it's totally not finished yet).

This is my bedroom and my beautiful Ikea bed (speaking of, I swear to god I heard a woman in a Brooklyn Burger King yesterday yell to her seven year old son: "IKEA! YOU GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE!" Anyway....

My room from the other end...

Here's my living room. I still have a lot of work to do here.

My "dining room". It's much funnier to call it that when you see it in person.

My lovely kitchen...

And of course the bathroom.

That's it for my place. Now, the exciting part...pictures of my CLASSROOM!

First off, let's talk about the VIEW from this place. Absolutely freaking unbelievable. I haven't figured out how anything gets done, because I find myself staring out the window most of the day.

Whoa...news flash. I was just watching the news, and they made an episode of Sesame Street where the whole place gets wiped out by a freaking hurricane! They showed a clip of Al Roker forecasting the weather, and they show the map, and a big, swirling hurricane is literally pointed right to a big "Sesame Street" sign. The next thing they showed was Big Bird crying his eyes out standing in the rubble of a once tree-lined Sesame Street. What WILL they think of next?!

Anyway...back to my room.

My classroom library...pretty hot.

It's hard to fit the whole thing in a picture, it's so huge!

My math and social studies centers, before I really hung anything up.

The other corner of my room...

And the view from the door.

Amazing. My kids are great, but they're still switching things around, so I may have a bit of a different group. Columbia is a trip...Basically the two classes I'm taking revolve around people with disabilities and the laws that "protect" them. But basically it sounds like a huge Bush-bashing session, as my professor is blind and can tell first hand about how well his administration deals with this issue in our schools (In case you don't know, our president thinks the answer is 7 standardized tests a year for our tiniest students.) All I know is that I have 12 huge books to read cover to cover before December. Amazing.

That's about it for now. Much more to come, I'm sure.

That spider carpet is so cool

Your apartment is gorgeous- and that view of the skyline is amazing! I'm glad to hear that things are going great- keep me up to date on teaching/Columbia/life things when you get a chance :)
